Leaving Religion in Asilah

Asilah sits inside a Sunni Muslim cultural pattern where the cost-of-leaving varies enormously by family, class, and geography. The wider Morocco religious landscape: Sunni Muslim near-totality (~99%), Maliki tradition; small Jewish, Christian, and Baha’i minorities; apostasy not criminalized federally but socially severe.
