Children’s rights
The amended bill dropped a clause that prohibited granting parents immunity from punishment if they beat their children. Another clause was amended to give the male guardian, not the mother, more say in deciding how to raise the child. Clauses protecting the privacy of children were largely maintained.

All students preparing for the government exams in their final year, at both public and private schools, must learn Quranic verses as part of the Arabic language compulsory subject. As such, non-Muslim students are required to demonstrate the same knowledge of the Quran as Muslim students in order to be eligible to attend university.
