Milan, like the rest of northern Italy, has gone through a generation-long collapse in active Catholic practice while retaining nearly universal Catholic family rituals (baptism, first communion, church weddings and funerals). The Milanese deconstruction is therefore mostly about the family-event calendar rather than doctrinal commitment.
