Christian-majority but rapidly secularizing — large evangelical (~25%), Catholic (~21%), and growing "nones" (~28%); LDS heartland in the Mountain West, Black Protestant traditions in the South, growing Muslim and Hindu populations in cities.

Mesa, Arizona has the largest LDS population outside Utah-Idaho, with the Mesa Temple as one of the oldest temples in the Church. The east valley of metro Phoenix is heavily LDS, and the leaving experience shares many features of the Mountain West LDS exit, layered with the Sun Belt cultural backdrop and a more religiously mixed surrounding metro.
